The 2023 Open Exhibition, which celebrates the best artistic talent in the region and across the UK, has opened at Ferens Art Gallery.
It features over 300 artworks, including paintings, sculptures, photography, ceramics, textiles, installations, and film produced by amateur and professional artists, many of them from the local area.
Some of the artworks are for sale, giving visitors the opportunity to buy and own a unique piece of art.
Clare Longrigg, Exhibition Officer at Ferens Art Gallery Said:
“So, for the 2023 Open Exhibition we had over 2000 artworks submitted and the selectors had a really busy task to whittle it down to just over 300 artworks in the exhibition.
“We’ve got paintings, sculptures, ceramics, installations, photography and also film. We have a number of prizes that are awarded including the peoples vote. So an opportunity for the public to vote for their favourite work in the exhibition.
“A lot of the artworks are for sale as well, form as little as £30 up to about £4000.
“So, we open on Friday 21 July and we run until 31 October. It’s free admission and you can come along at anytime. We’re open Monday to Saturday, 10am – 4:30pm, and Sundays 11am – 4pm.”
