National Highways will carry out essential resurfacing on the A1033 Hedon Road and the A63 Roger Millward Way, starting next week.
The work will affect the A1033 Hedon Road eastbound and westbound between Southcoates Roundabout and Northern Gateway, and part of the A63 Roger Millward Way between Southcoates Roundabout and Garrison Road, including Southcoates Roundabout itself.
At the same time, new clearway signs will be put up on the A1033 between Southcoates Roundabout and Salt End Roundabout.
The work is due to start on Monday 24 January and is expected to be completed by mid-February
National Highways project manager Steve Bishop said: “This work is essential for the continued upkeep of a safe, smooth road surface for drivers, riders and cyclists. We’ll be keeping disruption to a minimum by working overnight when traffic flows are lightest, and we aim to finish by the middle of February.
“However, the nature of the work means it can’t be done in bad weather, so if we experience adverse conditions, we will update people on the revised schedule via our social media channels.”
The improvement work will take place from 8pm to 6am, Monday to Friday, and will require the closure of the A1033 westbound and eastbound, but not both at the same time.
When work is carried out on the circulatory carriageway of Southcoates Roundabout, the A1033 will be closed in both directions between Southcoates Roundabout and Northern Gateway Roundabout, as well as the A63 eastbound at the Mount Pleasant Interchange.
All local access routes on to Southcoates Roundabout will also be restricted. However, access to the A1033 west of the roundabout will remain available, but not from the roundabout itself.
On the A63, the westbound carriageway will be closed overnight for resurfacing. This will not be done at the same time as the A1033 closures.
Fully signed diversions will be in place during all closures.
