The much-loved George, the Iguana, who lived in Pearson Park has sadly passed away today (Monday 23 October), following a recent deterioration of a long-term illness.
He had already surpassed the average life span by at least five-years and was a popular member of the Pearson Park family. George has been living in the Pearson Park Victorian Conservatory since December 2005 when he was donated by someone who no longer had enough space for him.
Stewart Kenny, Parks Area Manager, said: We are really saddened to have lost George, he had a remarkable life, everyone adored him and he was a real asset for Pearson Park. His long-term partner Mildred remains in Pearson Park.
