Northern Gas Networks to carry out essential upgrade in Spring Bank West, Hull

Northern Gas Networks (NGN) is carrying out essential work to replace the ageing metallic main on Spring Bank West.

The old pipe will be replaced with a more durable plastic main which will ensure the continued safe and reliable supply of gas to customers in Hull for many years to come.

The ageing main has undergone several recent emergency repairs, so has now been prioritised for urgent replacement, starting on Monday 10 May. The work has been planned in collaboration with Hull City Council and Network Rail and is expected to last up to four weeks.

So that engineers can carry out the work safely and efficiently, and to protect the public, some traffic management measures will be put in place for the duration of the work.

A section of Spring Bank West will be closed between the junction with Chanterlands Avenue and Calvert Road, this will affect both eastbound and westbound sides of the carriageway. Residents and businesses will have access. Signs will be displayed for motorists and a full signed diversion put in place.
