Work to improve Hessle Road has completed ahead of schedule.
The essential work was split into nine phases with a completion date of Sunday 21 February, however the work was finished yesterday, more than two weeks ahead of the programme.
The work forms part of a major investment into key transport routes by the Department for Transport.
The work included a combination of full reconstruction and structural repairs to sections of each route, resulting in a more structurally sound and reliable road surface.
Councillor Daren Hale, portfolio holder for economic investment and regeneration, said: “I’m pleased that this work was carried out so efficiently and that the road has reopened to motorists.
“The work was crucial and has received a huge number of positive comments as it is such an improvement. The council will be starting the footpath refurbishment in April this year.”
Work to the cycle lanes is still ongoing.
