Four new speed tables will be installed in a busy section of Inglemire Lane, to support traffic calming measures.
On Friday 11 December, four new speed tables encouraging motorists to monitor their speed will be introduced between Oldstead Avenue and Cranbrook Avenue.
The road will be closed to motorists from 8pm on Friday 11 December, until 8am on Saturday 12 December.
A signed diversion route via Hall Road, Cottingham Road and Cranbrook Avenue will be in place for the duration of the works, and access will be maintained for pedestrians and emergency services.
Councillor Anita Harrison, portfolio holder for highways at Hull City Council, said: “We are undertaking this essential work overnight so that we can try and minimise disruption to traffic.
“This work is necessary to support traffic calming measures in the area, and installing speed tables has been recognised as an effective way of dealing with speeding motorists.
“Local residents have been consulted, and we apologise for any delays and ask that motorists are patient while we carry out these essential repairs.”
Work to prepare this section of the road started earlier this week, and is being carried out by Wright Civil Engineering Ltd.
Speed tables are a raised section of road, with a ramp on both sides. The ramps are painted with white arrows to make them more obvious to motor vehicle drivers.
The aim of the speed table is to slow motor vehicle traffic to a safe speed, as the ramps become uncomfortable for motorists if they are driven over too fast.
New road markings will also be installed on Monday 14 December.
