Thousands of people in Hull have been voting for objects they would like to see as part of a new exhibition at the refurbished Hull Maritime Museum.
In the past three months, 200 objects have been put to the vote, with more than 8,500 votes cast in the People’s Choice project.
The final few days of voting are now taking place.
Robin Diaper, Hull Culture and Leisure’s curator of maritime and social history, said: “This is the first time people have had the opportunity to vote on the artefacts they’d like to feature in a new exhibition in this way. The response and the level of voting has been phenomenal.
In the past three months, more than 8,500 votes have been cast.
“The People’s Choice project is all about involving people in our plans for the museum and we will be working with groups in many more ways as we progress our plans.
“This project is not just about the museum though, it’s about sharing our proud maritime heritage across the city and all the stories that entails.”
As more of the Grade II*-listed Victorian Hull Maritime Museum is opened up, there will be 50 per cent more objects on public display when the museum reopens in late 2023, after an £11m refurbishment.

It is part of the £30m to transform and regenerate five of Hull’s key maritime sites, North End Shipyard, Arctic Corsair, Hull Maritime Museum, Dock Office Chambers and the Spurn Lightship.
