The Hull Maritime project is encouraging businesses to help inform a procurement exercise to remove, store and return tens of thousands of fragile and significant maritime objects.
This information from businesses will help to inform the procurement approach when it is expected to go live next month.
The maritime collection ranges from small fragile objects, an internationally significant scrimshaw collection, to large objects that will require specialist lifting.
Councillor Daren Hale, deputy leader of Hull City Council, said: “Before the refurbishment of the building can take place, the collection will need to be packed and place in to storage.

“This specialist work to safely pack, remove, store and return of the majority of Hull Maritime Museum’s historic collection will be a huge undertaking. This exercise is to test the market and gather information to ascertain the level of interest in this particular project.”
It is anticipated that an open procurement process for this contract will begin in late June, with a contract start date for the autumn.
