Council secures £25,000 to support private landlords

Hull City Council has been given £25,000 to improve support and training offered to private landlords.

The funding is part of £220,000 for local authorities across Yorkshire and the Humber, announced today by Housing Secretary Robert Jenrick MP.

The £25,000 will be used to help deliver landlord training and the production of advisory information for landlords and tenants.

The funding will also enable housing enforcement officers to use body cameras when investigating alleged offences relating to overcrowding, potential modern slavery and housing hazards.

Councillor John Black, portfolio holder neighbourhoods and housing, said: “We are pleased that the Government has recognised our work in the private rented sector and supported us with funding to further improve the support and training we can offer private landlords, so that together we can ensure standards are improved for the benefit of tenants.”
