Yorkshire Water has reopened the eastbound side of the carriageway on Spring Bank West.
The road was closed following a burst pipe earlier in the week.
One lane is now open on the eastbound carriageway, which will open up to two lanes as cars pass the level crossing.
The third lane will remain closed to allow Yorkshire Water’s partner, Morrison Utilities, to continue repairs on the central reserve over this weekend. Lane three will be reopened on completion of the central reserve repairs early next week.
Yorkshire Water aims to have the westbound carriageway reopened by Friday 8 November.
Phil Elbourne, Yorkshire Water manager of field operations, said: “The burst caused a huge amount of damage and I would like to praise the work of our teams to isolate the main safely and get customer supplies back on so quickly, as well as the ongoing work to the carriageway to enable the reopening as soon as possible.
“We certainly understand the frustration which is caused by a road closure and would like to thank residents for their patience.”
Works will continue throughout the weekend and next week.
