Hull and the rest of the world today to celebrate International Day of Older Persons.
The Older People’s Partnership Hull and East Riding is hosting a series of activities to celebrate the achievements and contributions of older people to the community.
Today and tomorrow between 10am-4pm the Guildhall in Lowgate is hosting a free celebration event with activities including the Ladies In Red choir, Strictly Wheelers, Hull Ladies’ Choir, bingo; the Sunshine Strummers Ukulele Group and the Back To Ours tea ladies.
The Hull land train will depart at 9.30am from the Cenotaph to the Guildhall every hour on the hour via Hull Minster, Hull’s Museum Quarter and Hull Interchange. The return journey from the Guildhall departs on half past the hour. The last train is at 4pm.
Tomorrow evening, the Guildhall will open its doors from 6.30pm for the Hull and East Riding’s Got Talent 55+ competition, including performance from the Livertones performing the best of soul and Motown.
On Friday from 10am-4pm, a free event at Cottingham Civic Hall sees a live music and there will be live music and entertainment including Ladies in Red, Sahara Dance and the Ballroom Blitz Dance Academy workshop.
The events will also have representatives from local and national organisations from the voluntary, community, private and public sectors, which can support and provide information of services to the older people in Hull, to help them live a healthy and more independent life.
