Hull residents are being urged to back a bid for millions of pounds towards Hull’s ambitious £27.4m major maritime project.
Hull City Council is bidding for £13.6m from the National Lottery Heritage Fund – and has now launched the All Hands on Deck campaign to build on a wave of support.
The project is to put Hull’s 800-year maritime history at the heart of its cultural and visitor experience.
In June 2017, the National Lottery Heritage Fund awarded Hull a £1.34m grant to develop plans for a visitor attraction and dry-berth for the Arctic Corsair, refurbish the Maritime Museum and conserve the Spurn Lightship.

To secure the latest National Lottery grant, Hull City Council must show it has the backing of its residents.
Hull City Council’s deputy leader Councillor Daren Hale said: “We’ve already witnessed great support from the city and worked with thousands of people who have contributed their ideas to help shape our proposals so far.
“The enthusiasm for the bid that we’ve already seen from people across Hull and the wider region has been truly inspiring and it’s clearer than ever that there’s an incredible passion for this once-in-a-generation opportunity for our city.
“We’d urge as many people as possible to take this chance to get involved, pledge their support and help show the world that culture and maritime is at the absolute heart of Hull and our communities.”
