Search on for best garden among Hull tenants

Green-fingered Hull City Council tenants will be again given the chance to show off their gardening skills.

And this year’s Hull City Council Tenants’ Garden Competition will includes more categories than ever.

Two new categories – Gardening Undertaken in a Confined Space and Best Container, have been added to awards for Best Individual Garden and Best Communal Garden.

Councillor John Black, Hull City Council’s portfolio holder for housing, said: “This year, we are marking a century since the Homes for Heroes Act empowering councils to build homes for rent received Royal Assent.

“When Hull City Council started to build houses for rent, they all had gardens, so it only seems right that we offer out tenants the chance to show off their green-fingered talents and I hope as many who can will enter the competition.”

Entries for this year’s competition will be taken until Friday 22 June. Judging will take place in July.

Entrants must be a Hull City Council tenant and must use the official entry form. Request a form by emailing tenant.resident@hullcc.gov.uk.
