Local businesses can now find out about one of Hull’s most ambitious low-carbon infrastructure projects, following the launch of the new Hull Heat Network website.
The website will provide local organisations with a central source to learn about the Hull Heat Network, a major project that will provide low-carbon heating and hot water to city centre buildings through a network of insulated underground pipes.
Delivered by Vital Energi in partnership with Hull City Council, the scheme will reduce the city’s reliance on gas and provide a reliable and affordable source of heat for connected buildings.
The Hull Heat Network has secured investment from the Green Heat Network Fund, Levelling Up Partnership, and the National Wealth Fund to deliver the low-carbon heat project across the city centre.
The new website explains how the Hull Heat Network works, the benefits of connecting to the network, and how organisations can register their interest. Also included are regular project updates, frequently asked questions, and details about current works.
Once operational, the Hull Heat Network will save an expected 110,000 tonnes of CO2 emissions, improve air quality and support Hull’s journey towards a more sustainable future. It will also reduce Hull City Council’s energy bills and generate additional revenue, helping to support wider council services for residents across the city.
The project will deliver wider economic benefits, including a £2m investment into local communities by Vital Energi, strengthen local supply chains, and provide future employment opportunities.
Councillor Charles Quinn, cabinet portfolio holder for environment at Hull City Council, said: “The launch of our new website provides a platform where you can learn about the Hull Heat Network and the many benefits it will bring to the city.
“Heat networks are a proven way to provide dependable, low-carbon heating and will play a key role in helping Hull to reduce carbon emissions and support sustainable growth.
“We encourage anyone interested to visit the new website and find out how they can connect to the network.”
