Hull City Council is looking to improve bus stop facilities throughout the city, using funding allocated by the Hull and East Yorkshire Combined Authority, as part of its Local Authority Bus Grant programme for 2026/2027.
This programme of works will include installing up to 200 digital bus information display screens, which show live bus arrival times and service updates as well as up to 60 new bus shelters with environmentally friendly green roofs.
To support this work, the council is carrying out public engagement to understand where people think these improvements would have the greatest benefit.
To get involved, residents are asked to go to the council’s YourSay website and ‘drop a pin’ on an interactive map of the city.
Using the map, you can –
- place a red pin where you think a new live bus information display screen should be installed
- place a blue pin where you think a new bus shelter should be installed.
“We are encouraging as many people as possible across our city to take part in this public engagement exercise,” said Councillor Mark Ieronimo, cabinet portfolio holder for transport and infrastructure.
“The feedback we receive will help us develop a programme of works that meets the needs of those who use our buses the most as well as helping to promote bus travel to others as a convenient and more sustainable transport option.
“You can make as many suggestions as you like. However, in addition to highlighting any locations where you’d like to see improvements, we ask that you also add a comment with each pin to explain why you think that location would benefit from a display screen or shelter.”

All responses should be made before Wednesday 12 August 2026.
Suggestions that are made do not guarantee that a display or shelter will be installed at a particular location.
The council will be using residents’ feedback, alongside other information, such as accessibility needs, passenger demand and the operational requirements of the city’s operators – East Yorkshire and Stagecoach East Midlands – to develop its programme of works, with the aim of carrying out installation in spring 2027.
