Hull will mark Refugee Week 2026 with a series of events in the city.
Taking place from 15 to 21 June, this year’s Refugee Week theme is courage.
As put by organisers of the week, courage is often a daily necessity for refugees around the world, who may face unknown journeys, learn new languages, or navigate unfamiliar systems.
This year’s Refugee Week marks 75 years since the landmark Refugee Convention agreement, which affirmed that those forced to flee deserve protection, dignity and hope.
Hull City Council’s portfolio holder for communities and community safety, Councillor Ted Dolman, said: “As a City of Sanctuary at a time of so many global conflicts and crisis, Refugee Week is a chance to pause and reflect on those fleeing war and persecution.
“The week will see our city come together in connection for those across the world who are struggling amid those global conflicts and uncertainty.
“I look forward to seeing communities across the city joining together and marking the occasion.”
Hull’s programme for 2026 includes exhibitions, talks and celebration events.
