Forum CIO to Host Second Social Prescribing Day in Hull

Forum CIO, a local charity supporting communities across Hull, will host its second annual Social Prescribing Day celebration on Thursday 26 March at Level 3, Princes Quay Shopping Centre.

Social prescribing plays a vital role in Hull, helping thousands of people connect with local groups, services and activities that support physical and mental wellbeing. The day shines a spotlight on this often behind-the-scenes work and the positive impact it has across the city.

Marie Johnson, Delivery Manager at Forum CIO, said: “Social Prescribing is something that happens quietly in the background. Pointing people in the right direction and connecting them to invaluable groups and activities going on all around us. Social Prescribing Day is the time we can make some noise about the work we do and showcase the amazing organisations that offer so much to the community.”

Last year’s inaugural event welcomed more than 50 stalls from voluntary and community organisations, alongside Hull City Council social care and support services. Hundreds of residents and professionals attended to explore support available across Hull, from mental health and wellbeing services to energy saving advice, employment support and community groups. Following its success, the event returns this year with the same energy and ambition.

Visitors can browse a marketplace of local organisations, including Hull City Council and Citizens Advice, meet social prescribers from across the city, and learn more about the services available. Attendees are encouraged to drop in for a chat, refreshments and the chance to discover new opportunities for support and connection.

Tracy Meyerhoff, Executive Director of Adult Social Care and Health at Hull City Council, said: “Social prescribing is an essential part of how we support residents across Hull, helping people access the right services at the right time and improving overall wellbeing. Events like this bring together partners from across the city and highlight the strength of our community network, ensuring more people know what support is available to them.”
