Hull City Council is proud to announce the launch of the second section of the Hull Nature Trail, a circular route around the much‑loved Oak Road Playing Fields.
The new trail can be accessed from either Beresford Avenue or Oak Road, just off Beverley Road. Visitors can enjoy accessible paths that guide them around the 75‑acre site, which also features a popular fishing lake, children’s play area and skate park.
Oak Road Playing Fields are home to a rich variety of wildlife, offering residents the opportunity to reconnect with nature and enjoy one of the city’s green spaces.
The trail officially opened on Wednesday 18 March, at a soft launch event led by the council’s Parks and Open Spaces team.
Following the event, Councillor Charles Quinn, cabinet portfolio holder for environment, at Hull City Council said: “I am delighted to see the next part of the Hull Nature Trail open to the public.
“The trail gives residents an excellent opportunity to discover and enjoy one of Hull’s most treasured green spaces.
“By improving access to nature, the trail supports wellbeing, education and our ambition to encourage more people to explore the city’s scenic outdoor routes.”

The Hull Nature Trail aims to reconnect people with Hull’s lesser-known green spaces, encouraging exploration and a deeper connection with nature.
Many of these historic walking routes are wildlife havens and offer fantastic opportunities for education and wellbeing.
The first part of the trail – 1.2 mile route along the Holderness Drain, near Exeter Grove – opened in October 2025.
Further expansions are planned for spring and summer 2026, connecting more green spaces across the city.
