Hull prepares for bumper festive weekend of Christmas cheer

Hull city centre will be flooded with festive cheer this November as a full Christmas weekend event fills the streets.

A Christmas market will line King Edward St, brought to life with street entertainment, hot and cold food offers as well as covered seating with live music performances and festive panto on the main stage in Queen Victoria Square.

Inside Princes Quay, the ground floor stage will be filled with musical performances, whilst more street entertainment will take place down Whitefriargate, leading the way to a Victorian Market in Trinity Square and Hull Minster (Saturday only).

This bumper weekend will take place on Saturday 29 and Sunday 30 November, joining Hull Museums’ much-loved annual Victorian Christmas event that will also take place on High Street.

Councillor Rob Pritchard, portfolio holder for culture and leisure, said: “We are really excited to bring this exciting weekend to the city centre. It’s the perfect opportunity for families to come and get started with their Christmas shopping in a fantastically festive atmosphere.

“We know the event will inject energy and footfall, giving a huge boost to our local businesses while creating a truly magical, memorable atmosphere for everyone—residents and visitors alike.”

Joining the festive offer, Hull Trains are working with Visit Hull to offer free travel to and from Hull from Doncaster, Selby, Howden and Brough on selected services in November and December.

Lou Mendham, Service Delivery Director, Hull Trains, added: “Christmas is always a special time in the region’s calendar and we’re thrilled to help people get into the heart of the city with free travel.

“Hull Trains is incredibly proud of our connection to the community and we hope everyone enjoys a magical day out.”

Hull’s Christmas weekend will take place 10am – 4pm Saturday 29 November and 11am – 4pm Sunday 30 November. For more information on what to expect, visit » For That Festive Feeling… It Must Be Hull
