Millions of pounds worth of funding is available in Hull for eligible households to improve their energy efficiency.
Hull City Council’s Warm Homes Team has secured £3.4 million from the Department for Energy Security and Net Zero (DESNZ), allocated over a period of 3 years, to help reduce fuel poverty in the city and enable eligible residents to make energy-saving home improvements.
The Warm Homes Local Grant is part of a national scheme designed to help low-income and vulnerable households stay warm and reduce their energy bills.
Eligible Hull residents could benefit from a range of energy efficiency upgrades, including:
- Wall, loft and underfloor insulation
- Air source heat pumps
- Smart controls (allowing for heating to be remotely controlled from an internet-connected device)
- Solar panels
The scheme is delivered in partnership with E.ON, a trusted provider of sustainable energy solutions, which will manage the installation and delivery of the upgrades, ensuring high standards and minimal disruption to households.
Councillor Paul Drake-Davis, Hull City Council’s Portfolio Holder for Housing, said: “Even though we’re currently experiencing warm, summer weather, it’s really not that long until things turn colder, so we want to let residents know that there is help available ahead of the autumn and winter.
“Because there is limited funding available, we need to make sure it’s used wisely to help us support those who need it most and make the biggest difference with the funding we have.
“More generally, the goal of this funding is to help the Council to develop future energy efficiency programmes and provide homeowners with advice to improve the energy efficiency of their own homes.
“This partnership with E.ON allows us to deliver real, tangible improvements to homes across Hull, helping our residents to keep warm and saving them some money on their energy bills.”
Joe Hill, Business Development Manager from E.ON, said: “It has been a real pleasure working with Hull City Council on the Warm Homes Local Grant project.
“It is clear from top to bottom in the organisation that Hull City Council is fully committed to helping homeowners reduce their fuel bills.
“Not only will this scheme help tackle fuel poverty, but it will also reduce carbon emissions across the city.”
