As part of Hull City Council’s ongoing Love Your Neighbourhood initiative, improvement works are set to begin on the footpaths along Ventnor Street.
Following a recent ‘patch walk’ in the Newland Avenue area, the footpaths on Ventnor Street were identified as being in poor condition and in urgent need of repair.
In response, the council will invest in resurfacing and reconstructing key sections of the footpaths to enhance safety and accessibility for local residents.
The improvement works will commence on Monday 21 July and are expected to be completed by Friday 22 August, weather permitting.
To minimise disruption, the project will be delivered in five phases:
- Phase one: Falmouth Street junction to Exmouth Street junction (south side)
- Phase two: Exmouth Street junction to number 21 Ventnor Street (south side)
- Phase three: Side of number 21 Ventnor Street to Newland Avenue junction (south side)
- Phase four: Newland Avenue junction to number 22 Ventnor Street (north side)
- Phase five: Number 22 Ventnor Street to Falmouth Street junction (north side)
Footpath closures will be in place during each phase, but access will be maintained for residents throughout the scheme.
Residents directly affected by the works have been notified in advance via letter.

Councillor Charles Quinn, portfolio holder for environment at the council, said: “As well as keeping Hull clean and tidy for our residents, Identifying deteriorated footpaths has become a crucial part of our Love Your Neighbourhood initiative
“This upcoming scheme on Ventnor Street will complement the footpath improvement works already completed in the Beverley and Newland ward as part of the Love Your Neighbourhood programme, further enhancing the safety and accessibility of the area.
“This vital work continues to underscore that Love Your Neighbourhood is not only about caring for the environment and keeping our neighborhoods clean and tidy, but also about making our communities safe and welcoming places to live and work.”
Councillor Mark Ieronimo, portfolio holder for transport and infrastructure, added: “It is crucial that we repair and maintain our city’s footpaths, preventing further deterioration and ensuring longevity, so I am pleased to see further improvements being made in the Beverley and Newland ward.
“I appreciate the community’s patience and cooperation as we undertake these necessary works.”
The scheme will be funded by Hull City Council’s Love Your Neighbourhood project and carried out by PBS Construction Limited on behalf of the council.
