Summer water fun begins in Hull this Spring Bank Holiday weekend.
Families can splash their way into the half-term holidays at Alderman Kneeshaw, Bude Road and West Park splash pads from Saturday 24 May.
All three splash pads will be open from 10am until 5pm on weekends, bank holidays and during school holidays until Sunday 31 August, subject to air temperature being at least 16 degrees.
Cllr Rob Pritchard, portfolio holder for culture and leisure at Hull City Council, said: “The opening of waterplay really signifies the start of summer in Hull.
“The splash pads and paddling pools are always incredibly popular and we’re delighted to be able to provide these safe, free provisions for our residents and visitors.”
The splash pad at Ings Road will open in time for the summer holidays and remain open until Sunday 31 August, as well as paddling pools at Oak Road and West Park.
Pickering Park paddling pool will be subject to refurbishment works with a view to being open this summer, with a preferred contractor in the process of being appointed.
Cllr Pritchard added: “The council recognises the importance for these facilities to our local communities, as evidenced through seeking public feedback on what they would like to see on site at Pickering Park.
“It is pleasing that the council is in a position to be able to appoint a contractor for a brand new paddling pool.”
Following detailed inspections on East Park splash pad, issues with the quality of the surface were discovered, meaning unfortunately it is currently not possible for it to open to the public.
While temporary repairs have been made over the past two summers in order to keep the facility open, the pad requires full refurbishment works to be delivered to ensure it is able to open to the public.
The council will continue to provide updates with progress with a view to enjoying a new and improved East Park splash pad in due course.
The park’s splash boat remains operational during weekends, bank holidays and school holidays.
