North Bridge: Weekend closure for vital resurfacing work

Hull City Council announce 48-hour closure for North Bridge.

The council is set to close North Bridge for 48 hours next weekend to carry out essential resurfacing and waterproofing works, to ensure the structure remains safe for road users.

This closure is also part of the mitigation measures ahead of the major repair and strengthening scheme on Drypool Bridge.

To maintain safety, and to ensure the waterproof resin-based material has time to cure, the bridge will be closed from 6am on Saturday 17 May to 6am on Monday 19 May.

Throughout the closure, motorists will be signposted over Drypool Bridge, to minimise the impact on traffic flow. Access will be maintained for pedestrians and cyclists.

The council advises motorists to follow the diversions, as well as plan their journeys accordingly, and allow extra time for travel.

Councillor Mark Ieronimo, cabinet portfolio holder for transportation, roads and highways at Hull City Council, said: “Due to the increased traffic volume that will be passing over North Bridge as the diversion and dedicated bus route during the Drypool Bridge closure, these works are essential to maintain the integrity of North Bridge throughout this period.

“We understand the inconvenience this closure will cause and appreciate the public’s patience and cooperation whilst our contractors carry-out these vital works.”

This scheme will be carried out by MIF Limited on behalf of the council.
