Sutton Road Bridge: Temporary closure for essential deck repairs

Hull City Council announce two-day closure for Sutton Road Bridge.

As part of the council’s ongoing commitment to maintaining and enhancing the city’s infrastructure, a temporary closure of Sutton Road Bridge is necessary to carry out essential deck repairs.

This scheme will help ensure the safety and functionality of the bridge, which is a vital transport link for residents, commuters, and visitors.

Work is expected to start on Wednesday 7 May at 6am and is due to be completed by 6am on Friday 9 May.

To maintain safety, the scheme will be conducted under a road closure, with access maintained for pedestrians and cyclists.

Throughout the closure, motorists will be signposted over Stoneferry Bridge, to minimise impact on traffic.

The council advises motorists to follow the diversions, as well as plan their journeys accordingly, and allow extra time for travel.

Gillian Osgerby, interim assistant director for major projects and infrastructure at Hull City Council, said: “The upcoming deck repairs on Sutton Road Bridge are essential for ensuring the safety and functionality of this vital transport link.

“We understand the inconvenience these works may cause and appreciate the public’s patience and cooperation during the construction period.”

The construction work will be carried out by the council’s highway team.
