Hull City Council is preparing to begin reconstruction and resurfacing works on The Avenue, Sutton-on-Hull, later this month.
The scheme will improve the existing section of deteriorated carriageway from the junction of Ings Road. These repairs will ensure a safer, smoother, and more skid-resistant surface for all road users.
Funded by the council’s Ings regeneration programme, the improved road will complement the new housing development, providing a direct link to Sutton Village, and local schools.
By synchronising the two projects, the council aims to maximise efficiency and minimise disruption for residents and road users.
The work is scheduled to take place from Monday 17 March to Friday 11 April , weather permitting.
During the construction period, The Avenue will be closed to all traffic. However, a temporary footpath will be provided to ensure residents can still access their homes. Please note that vehicle access will not be permitted for residents.
Residents have been notified of the upcoming work in advance, via letter.

Councillor Mark Ieronimo, portfolio holder for transportation, roads and highways at Hull City Council, said: “We’re dedicated to improving the city’s road network, and this scheme is a testament to this commitment. Not only does this work help us futureproof our road network, but it also helps keep the road safe for all users.
“By synchronising the roadworks with the current housing development in Ings, we aim to maximise efficiency and minimise disruption for residents and road users.
“While I understand that these roadworks may cause some inconvenience, I greatly appreciate the patience and understanding of residents and road users as we carry out this important scheme.”
The scheme will be carried out by Wright Civil Engineering Limited on behalf of the council.
