Following a successful resurfacing scheme, Hull City Council has confirmed that road markings will be re-painted and anti-skid surfacing installed at a busy city centre junction this weekend.
The junction of Ferensway and Anlaby Road had become damaged over the years due to factors such as weathering and significant traffic volumes and was recently resurfaced by the council’s contractor, EC Surfacing, over three nights earlier in February.
To help mitigate the impact for motorists and the travelling public, the council is proposing to reinstate the road markings and anti-skid surfacing on the night of Saturday 1 March.
In order to carry out this work safely and to a high standard, the junction will be closed to all traffic from 8pm and will reopen at 6am the following day.
An exception will be made that allows traffic to turn into Anlaby Road from Ferensway, north bound, but all other movements through the junction will be prohibited during the closure.
Councillor Mark Ieronimo, cabinet portfolio holder for transportation, roads and highways, said: “After listening to the views of our residents with regards to this junction we have taken the necessary steps to invest and enhance the road surface on this key route in and out of Hull and, as a council, we are delighted with the quality of this repair.
“Adding the road markings back and installing the anti-skid surfacing will be the final activity we need to do at this location.
“We apologise for the short-term inconvenience that this work will have and would like to thank motorists and the travelling public for their patience and understanding.”
