The Hull Bus Alliance has confirmed that further discounted bus fare options are being laid on for the festive season to help support the local economy and provide greater choice when it comes to travelling around the city in the build up to Christmas.
Stagecoach East Midlands and East Yorkshire Buses will again be offering a ‘6 people for £6’ group travel ticket, perfect for families and groups of friends enjoying a day out or attending the city’s packed programme of events, funded by the Department for Transport and Hull City Council.
The offer ran over the summer and, due to its popularity, will return from Saturday 7 December until Tuesday 24 December (inclusive) and can be purchased on any of the operators’ services in Hull, with both cash and card payments accepted.
In addition to the group travel offer, to help with night-time socialising over the Christmas and New Year period, the council is also reminding partygoers of the late-night bus services available on Saturdays, with a discounted £1 fare.
The services provide an additional safe and convenient travel option across all parts of the city on the following routes:

West and north bound services will start at Alfred Gelder Street and serve Hull Truck before going out of the city centre.
To ensure the safety of passengers, bus marshals will be on duty at the Hull Truck and Alfred Gelder Street stops to provide support.
Councillor Mark Ieronimo, cabinet portfolio holder for transportation, roads and highways at Hull City Council, said: “Working closely with our city’s bus operators, the council is delighted to be running these discounted fare options and additional services to allow our residents to enjoy the festive period without the hassle.
“Whether it is a night out with colleagues or attending a Christmas event with family and friends, more buses and reduced fares will mean people can save money and have even greater choice in how they travel.
“Using public transport to make more sustainable journeys also helps our city respond to the climate emergency as well as providing a timely boost to the local economy.”
Matt Cranwell, managing director at Stagecoach, said: “We’re delighted that Stagecoach can facilitate the ‘Six for £6’ special offer being available again during this Christmas period.
“Using the bus is a great value way for families and young people to get around Hull, especially around the time when you may wish to be going out in groups for fun around this festive time.
“Stagecoach and East Yorkshire Buses have a network of frequent services running across the city from early in the morning until late into the evening, which means it’s easy to visit people and places during the school and college holidays.
“Using the bus is safe, easy and environmentally friendly, helping to reduce traffic congestion and improve air quality. We wish all Hull residents a Merry Christmas.”
Ben Gilligan, managing director at East Yorkshire Buses, said: “We are pleased to be able to offer further discounted fares in the run up to Christmas allowing families and friends to avoid the stress and hassle of dealing with congestion and car parking difficulties. The bus is a safe and environmentally friendly choice for residents, and we look forward to welcoming customers on board this month.”
