An overnight routine inspection will take place on Hessle Road flyover next week, to ensure its continued safety and reliability.
The inspection, which will be carried out by Hull City Council’s bridges team in partnership with Mason Clark Associates, will check the structure’s approach spans – the part of the structure that supports the carriageway on both the east and west approaches to the flyover.
The work will be conducted from beneath the structure, ensuring no disruption to road users who travel via the flyover.
However, to allow the inspection works to be carried out safely, an overnight road closure will be in place on Wiltshire Road (from the Hessle Road eastbound entrance only to under the flyover) from 7.30pm on Wednesday 20 of November to 6.30am on Thursday 21 of November.
Access to Wiltshire Road will remain via the Hessle Road westbound entrance.
A short, signed diversion route will be in place via the A1166 Hessle Road flyover and the roundabouts to the east and west of the bridge.
Councillor Mark Ieronimo, portfolio holder for transportation, roads, and highways at Hull City Council, said: “Although this work will take place overnight to minimise disruption, we acknowledge the inconvenience this inspection may cause. However, it is crucial that this work is carried out to ensure the flyover remains a safe and reliable transport link for residents, commuters, and visitors.
“Thank you, in advance, to residents and road users for their patience and understanding whilst we carry out this work.”
