Annual memorial service to be held

The traditional Christmas memorial service is to take place at Chanterlands Crematorium on Sunday 15 December.

It will be held in the large chapel, starting at 2pm, with anyone attending asked to arrive around 1:45pm.

The service, which is open to all, provides a chance to remember loved ones at a special time of year.

There will be an opportunity to light a candle, as well as placing a remembrance dedication on a Christmas tree.

Hull City Council’s Communities and Communications Portfolio Holder, Councillor Jack Haines, said: “The Christmas memorial service is a really special way to come together and remember the loss of a loved one.

“Regardless of whether you’ve recently said goodbye to someone or you are dealing with their loss for a longer period, this service is always a very poignant occasion.

“The service aims to be uplifting and hopeful while also balancing the grief and loss so many of us experience.”

The service will be led for the first time by the Reverend Vicky Earll, who is Reverend at the Church of Ascension on Calvert Road, with Tony Brown playing the organ.

Free light refreshments will be available.

Chanterlands Crematorium is on Chanterlands Avenue in Hull, HU5 4EF, where a large, free car park is available.

The service is organised by Hull Bereavement Services, and you can find out more about them here: Hull Bereavement Services – Hull Bereavement Services
