School children in Hull have been invited to create a design for Hull City Council’s official Christmas e-card.
Posters are going up in primary and secondary schools, asking pupils to design a card with the theme of ‘Hull at Christmas’.
Young people are being asked to come up with an entry that could, for example, include a Hull landmark as part of a traditional Christmas scene, or something that is wintry with an obvious Hull link.
An invite letter has gone to every headteacher in the city, urging schools to get involved.
The letter is signed by the Leader of Hull City Council, Councillor Mike Ross, and the Council’s Chief Executive, Matt Jukes.
They will personally shortlist the designs that are entered, going on to select one winner and one runner-up from both the primary and secondary age category.
There will be gift cards as prizes for the winners and runners-up.
The winning designs will be turned into Hull City Council’s official digital Christmas card for 2024, which will be sent to all employees, partners and stakeholders within the city and beyond.
Councillor Ross said: “We’re looking for entries that celebrate how Christmas brings people together, with a Hull twist!
“The competition is open to secondary school pupils this year for the first time, so I’m looking forward to seeing how children of all ages use their creative talents and enjoy some festive fun.”
Schools have received details of the entry requirements, including the deadline for submissions, which is noon on Friday 29 November, with judging taking place the following week.
