Hull City Council are preparing to begin an essential resurfacing scheme on Plimsoll Way next month.
The scheme will improve the existing carriageway between the junction of The Haven to South Bridge Road, including the roundabout.
The intention of the scheme is to reconstruct and resurface the failed area of the carriageway, to ensure the highway provides a safe and even surface for traffic, and that it has adequate grip and skid resistance.
The work will start on Monday 2 September and is planned to take up to four weeks to complete – weather permitting.
To minimise disruption, these works will be conducted in three phases using temporary traffic signals.
Phase one: Monday 2 September to Friday 20 September – Reconstruction works from the junction of The Haven to South Bridge Road, including a large section of the roundabout. As well as temporary traffic signals, a road closure will also be in place during this phase.
Phase two: Monday 23 September to Tuesday 24 September – Resurfacing of the roundabout adjacent to the approach from the south.
Phase three: Tuesday 24 September to Wednesday 25 September – Resurfacing of the roundabout adjacent to the southern exit onto Plimsoll Way (south).
Access for residents and emergency service vehicles will be maintained at all times.
Councillor Mark Ieronimo, portfolio holder for transportation, roads, and highways at Hull City Council, said: “This section of the carriageway, including the roundabout, is in poor condition, so I am happy to hear that the reconstruction and resurfacing work will be carried out imminently.
“Not only does this work help us futureproof our road network, but it also helps keep the road safe for all users.
“We understand that roadworks can be inconvenient, and we thank residents and motorists for their patience and understanding whilst we carry out these works.”
The scheme will be carried out by Wright Civil Engineering Limited on behalf of the council.
