Hull City Council is urging drivers to prepare for an overnight closure of Drypool Bridge by planning their journeys in advance.
Drypool Bridge will be closed overnight from 8pm Friday 23 February to 6am Saturday 24 February, to enable an asbestos survey to be carried out.
Pedestrian access will be maintained, with a diversion in place for motorists and cyclists via Lowgate, Wilberforce Drive, George Street, Witham, Clarence Street, and Great Union Street depending on the direction of travel.
Motorists are urged to take note of this diversion route and plan their journeys in advance. This could include allowing extra time to travel or using an alternative mode of transport.
Councillor Mark Ieronimo, Portfolio Holder for Transportation, Roads, and Highways, said: “We know that this is a popular route for many road users, but due to the location of the survey it is essential that the whole bridge closes to maintain safety.
“We apologise for any inconvenience caused and thank the public for their patience and understanding.”
