Free family fun as Healthy Holidays returns

Free activities are back in Hull as ‘Healthy Holidays’ returns this summer.

Part of the Holiday Activities and Food Programme, it’s seen thousands of children, young people and families benefit from free, fun, healthy schemes during school holiday periods, in numerous locations across the city, as well as providing food and nutrition to families.

Funding for the programme comes from Hull City Council and the Department for Education, with Hull Culture and Leisure providing a number of activities.

Councillor Rob Pritchard, portfolio holder for culture and leisure, said: “We’re putting on a range of different events across the city, all of them free, but you are recommended to book ahead where you can.

“So many families have benefited from ‘Healthy Holidays’, and we’re pleased to be able to offer some help at a time when financial pressures have been hitting hard.”

Councillor Mike Ross, leader of Hull City Council, said: “Every family across the city can find something to enjoy from this programme.

“It was established to make sure that children and young people can still access free, nutritious food when schools are closed for the holidays.

“The cost of living crisis is still with us, and these schemes allow all to have fun during the summer holidays without having to shell out.”
