The award-winning Freedom Festival is back this week.
This year the 12th edition of the international arts festival, that draws performers from all over the world, is taking place over five days.
The huge programme includes a wide range of events and performances, the vast amount of which are free.
Here’s just five things that might grab your attention…
1. Fidelis Fortibus, Circus Ronaldo

2. Bivouac, Générik Vapeur

French street arts titans Générik Vapeur have been lighting up cities across Europe for 30 years with smoke, flame, oil drums and mayhem as an enormous troupe of blue men and women lay siege to the city. On Friday night their enchanting show hits the streets of Hull city centre in a spectacular procession that starts at Alfred Gelder Street. Learn more here

3. On Edge, Justice in Motion

4. The Great Escape, Adhok

What does it mean to grow old? Seven actors aged between 60 and 75 offer a poetic and fun promenade performance of theatre and dance, challenging our perception of old age, the fears it carries and the treasures it hides. Learn more here
5. The Beats Bus

A regular fixture at Freedom Festival since 2017, the Hull Beats Bus will be on site throughout the festival weekend encouraging the city’s next generation to speak out about their hopes and aspirations through music. Learn more here
