The meadows are back – and they’re bigger and better than ever.
Hull’s stunning wildflower meadows will be making a reappearance this summer, with some new areas.
This year, even more streets will see swathes of the popular wildflowers springing up, as well as in Holwell Road, Bude Road and Holderness High Road.
Species including larkspur, cornflowers, poppies, flax, baby’s breath and coreopsis will pop up around the city, adding a splash of colour to the city’s green spaces.

Andrew Wilson, parks and open spaces manager at Hull City Council, said: “We’ve already cut down and sprayed the new crop in time for summer. The meadow seeds planted in last year have a longevity of three years, and will be replaced in 2021.
“Last year, we sowed 16,000 square metres across the city. The meadow spaces promote biodiversity and support the National Pollinator Strategy that promotes nectar rich planting creating habitats for pollinating insects.”
The planting scheme also offers maintenance savings in grass-cutting, and supports flood prevention measures across Hull.
