Hull City Council has appointed Tracy Meyerhoff as its Director of Adult Social Care.
Tracy previously served as Interim Director of Adult Social Care and has now been appointed to take on the role on a permanent basis.
Tracy first began working for the council in June 1993 and throughout that time worked in and managed all Adult Social Care front-line services, including senior roles in residential, supported living and domiciliary care and disability services.
She went on to become Assistant City Manager for vulnerable people, including safeguarding and supporting independence, where she led on implementing the 2014 Care Act and managed social work and occupational therapy teams. She also led on development of the local autism strategy and contributed to the national framework on ambitions for palliative and end of life care.
More recently, she held the post of Deputy Director of Adult Social Care, leading on integration, system partnership, commissioning, quality and performance. Since September 2021, she has been the council’s Interim Director of Adult Social Care.
Tracy said: “I was born and educated in Hull, it’s something I am very proud of. I have worked in adult social care for 28 years and I am delighted to be surrounded by a skilful and dedicated team of people supported by an exceptional workforce, including external partners and providers.
“Working for Hull City Council has given me many personal opportunities and offered me access to a varied and rewarding career, including learning and development opportunities. I am now a Chartered Manager, with a focus on person-centred practice, listening to people and ensuring the people of Hull have access to the best social care – social care that is inclusive, supports people to have a voice and who will help shape social care and health integration.
“My priorities will be to encourage people into our social care workforce, helping to reduce health inequalities and also to implement the new adult social care reforms with a focus on people, place, communities and providers.
“Hull is an ambitious city and I pleased and proud to be its Director of Adult Social Care and to deliver services to be proud of.”
Matt Jukes, Chief Executive of Hull City Council said: “Tracy has a wealth of experience and expertise from an impressive career working in adult social care leadership roles across the council.
“Care systems in Hull, and around the country, are under great pressure and Tracy is very well equipped to lead our Adult Social Care services, working alongside a very knowledgeable and dedicated team. I congratulate Tracy on her appointment and wish her every success in this vital role.”
