Park Street to undergo improvement work

Road users will soon benefit from a smoother ride on Park Street.

The road, which runs between Anlaby Road and Spring Bank, is currently in poor condition and requires urgent repairs.

On Tuesday April 11, Hull City Council will begin resurfacing and reconstructing areas of the road between Anlaby Road and the entrance to the Tesco car park.

The work will be split into two phases and is expected to take five weeks

  • Phase 1: Anlaby Road to Margaret Moxon Way
  • Phase 2: Margaret Moxon Way to Tesco entrance

To allow the work to take place safely, Park Street will be closed between Anlaby Road and the Tesco car park entrance from 11 April to 14 May.

A signed diversion will be in place, with traffic diverted via Spring Bank / Ferensway / Anlaby Road for both phases of work, with access to Margaret Moxon Way via Spring Bank for Phase 1 or Anlaby Road for Phase 2.

A Hull City Council spokesperson said: “Park Street is an important route for our city’s residents and businesses, connecting two of Hull’s busiest roads.

“The current condition of this road means these works need to take place quickly to avoid a longer closure in the future.

“We do understand that this work will cause some disruption, but if everyone can bear with us for this short period, the end result will be a much smoother and safer road for everyone.”
