Essential resurfacing works are set to begin in Hull next week to provide much-needed improvements to the city’s footpaths.
As part of Hull City Council’s investment in the city’s footpaths, essential improvement works will take place on Sylvia Close, Skidby Grove, De Grey Street, Oldfield Avenue, 21st Avenue, Endike Lane, Courtland Road and Sextant Road, from next week.
The scheme will involve resurfacing areas of the footpaths which have deteriorated. Once finished, the newly improved footpaths will provide a safe and even surface for local residents.
The works are due to commence on Monday 2 December and are expected to be completed by Tuesday 25 March 2025 (not including the Christmas break) – weather permitting.
To reduce the impact on residents the work will be carried out in separate phases on the following dates:
- Sylvia Close: Monday 2 December to Friday 20 December
- Skidby Grove: Monday 6 January to Tuesday 14 January
- De Grey Street: Monday 6 January to Friday 27 January
- Oldfield Avenue: Wednesday 15 January to Wednesday 29 January
- 21st Avenue: Thursday 30 January to Tuesday 18 February
- Endike Lane: Wednesday 19 February to Thursday 27 February
- Courtland Road: Friday 28 February to Thursday 6 March
- Sextent Road: Friday 7 March to Tuesday 25 March
Please note that the above dates are provisional only. Letters will be issued to all residents affected by the works in advance or the works starting.
To ensure the safety of the contractors and the public, the works will be undertaken using footpath closures. Access will be maintained for residents at all times.
Councillor Mark Ieronimo, portfolio holder for transportation, roads and highways at the Council, said: “It is crucial that we repair and maintain our city’s footpaths, preventing further deterioration and ensuring longevity.
“My main focus is ensuring all footpaths are safe within the city and I know that residents will welcome the smooth new surfaces once they are completed.
“This scheme also aligns with our broader community plan for Hull to create safe and welcoming neighbourhoods for our residents.
“I would like to thank all residents for their patience and understanding while we carry out these works.”
The scheme will be carried out by PBS Construction on behalf of the council.
