Plans to install safer cycling routes in Hessle Road can now be viewed online.
The work involves improving existing cycle lane infrastructure between Brighton Street and Priory Park roundabout.
The proposed scheme will also incorporate slightly wider cycle lanes and introduce flexible bollards in some sections of the road, to provide physical segregation between cyclists and moving traffic.
A further option is also being considered, which includes part of the eastbound cycle lane diverting onto the existing footway heading towards the city centre approaching the roundabout junction of Askew Avenue. This move would also protect on street parking in an area where the demand is high.
Councillor Daren Hale, portfolio holder for regeneration and economic investment, said: “Since being awarded the second round of funding from Department of Transport, we are now able to progress with our second phase of safer cycle routes which includes Hessle Road.
“We want to ensure that we take into account those who use our roads on a regular basis, and that is why we launched Commonplace, an interactive platform for people to have their say on the new cycle lanes.
“Alongside this, we will also be engaging directly with businesses in the area.”
Commonplace is an online community engagement platform that allows residents to have their say on the schemes which matter to them.
Cycle schemes in Freetown Way, Spring Bank and Ferensway and Holderness Road are available for viewing and commenting.
Comments on the Hessle Road scheme can be made up until Thursday 7 January 2021.
