Footpath resurfacing works to begin on three Hull streets next month

Hardy Street, Haworth Street, and Bentley Grove will undergo essential resurfacing this summer, to provide much-needed improvements to the footpaths.

The works are needed due to footpath deterioration and will provide a safe and even surface for residents.

Works are scheduled to begin on Friday 25 August and are expected to take approximately 15 weeks to complete, weather permitting.

To reduce impact on residents the work will be carried out as three separate schemes on the following dates:

Scheme one – Friday 25 August to Tuesday 10 October (Hardy Street)

Scheme two – Tuesday 10 October to Monday 27 November (Haworth Street)

Scheme three – Tuesday 28 November to Tuesday 12 December (Bentley Grove)

To allow these works to be done safely, they will be undertaken under phased footpath closure. However, access will be maintained for residents.

Councillor Mark Ieronimo, portfolio holder for transportation, roads, and highways at Hull City Council, said: “These works are essential to repair the surface of the footpaths, which have fallen into poor condition.

“The council is focused on ensuring all footpaths are safe and we know that residents will welcome the smooth new surfaces once they are completed.”

The scheme will be funded by Hull City Council’s Capital Footway Programme and carried out by Overhall Contractors Limited on behalf of the Council.
