Half-term help as free and low cost activities are back for the holidays

Help is at hand for families during the half-term thanks to the leisure and parks programme run by Hull Culture and Leisure.

This will run from Monday 30 October through to Friday 3 November right across the city.

Free junior swimming sessions will held across the city throughout the week, alongside a range of events at Pickering Park Aviary and the Animal Education Centre in East Park.

A netball taster day will be available to book with England Netball’s Regional Development Officer at the Waudby Centre on Thursday 2 November. Aimed at 7-14 year olds, sessions cost £15 per person and must be pre-booked. To book a place contact Olivia Park at olivia.park@englandnetball.co.uk.

New for this year will be kayak taster sessions at the brand new Albert Ave lido thanks to Kingston Kayak Club. Children between the ages of eight and 14 years old can get on the water in paddle kayaks, as well as Canadians and Stand Up Paddleboards and will be coached by experienced, qualified British Canoeing coaches. Sessions are being held on Wednesday 1st November, Thursday 2nd November and Friday 3rd November 1.30-3pm and are £3.50 per person with all equipment provided. Book a place here.

Hull City Ladies FC will be providing two football camps for girls aged 6-12 years, at Costello Stadium and Waudby Centre on Tuesday 31st October (10am – 3pm) and Friday 3rd November (10am – 2pm). Camps are £20 per person and can be booked here.

Leader of Hull City Council, Councillor Mike Ross, who also chairs Hull Culture and Leisure, said: “We have some fantastic free and low cost activities for children of all ages across the half-term holidays.

“I’m particularly pleased to see the new lido part of this year’s offer. There really is something for everyone and I’m sure the activities on offer will be extremely popular.”
