This is your chance to grab a little piece of Hull New Theatre’s history.
Hull New Theatre reopened in 2017 following a £16m refurbishment. As well as a new-look restaurant and bars, the 18-month transformation included an extension of the main auditorium which saw new seats installed.
The old seats were offered to theatre groups, clubs and schools, with many being snapped up, however some seats still remain and people are now being invited to grab their own little piece of Hull’s history.
Councillor Dave Craker, portfolio holder for culture, leisure and tourism, said: “Many people in Hull have fond memories of the theatre, so it’s fantastic that we are able to offer people the chance to grab a small piece of its history.”
Hull New Theatre opened in 1939 as a successor to the Hull Repertory Theatre Company.
The theatre closed on 4 January 2016, after the December 2015 pantomime season, for a major refit in preparation for Hull being the UK City of Culture in 2017.
The theatre reopened opened on 16 September 2017 with a sell-out one-off performance by The Royal Ballet which was streamed live to Queen’s Gardens to an additional audience of around 5,000.
