The Animal Education Centre in East Park has today (Thursday 25 June) reopened to the public.
Visitors can expect to be greeted by a whole host of animals, including alpacas, deer, wallabies as well as a variety of bird life.
The popular zoo remains free to enter, and is now operating under new government issued guidelines to keep visitors safe, including limiting visitor numbers at any one time and with a maximum of six people to one party booking . All visitors will be required to pre-book via the HCAL website or by telephone to help us manage visitor numbers and avoid queues.
Emma Burdon, Zoo Manager said: “We’ve been working really hard to get the centre ready and safe to open up again and the staff – and animals – are really looking forward to welcoming everyone back.”
At this stage the authority is only able to open the outdoor areas to the public, and this means that the toilets, main building and walk through aviary will be off limits. Customers will follow a new one-way system through the zoo and need to adhere to social distancing government guidance.
Councillor Marjorie Brabazon, Chair of Hull Culture and Leisure said: “It’s fantastic news we are now able to open the Animal Education Centre to the public. We know this is a popular attraction at East Park and will be welcomed by visitors.”
The centre will be open for bookings 9.30am – 3pm, Monday – Sunday.
Visits can be booked via the website or call 01482 616 635 (Monday to Friday only) and customers will need to show their booking confirmation upon entry.
