Pat celebrates 50 years of fostering in Hull

Pat Bottomley MBE Celebrating 50 Years of Fostering Children in Hull

Pat began fostering with her late husband Bryan in March 1971 and they have cared for over 700 children alongside their own six biological children.

In 2013 both Pat and Bryan received MBE’s from the Queen for their services to fostering.

In the most recent years, Pat has particularly enjoyed providing a safe and loving home to unaccompanied asylum seeker children and teenagers.

Pat often gets a surprise knock on the door from familiar faces she has cared for, who want to pop by and check in on her.

Pat and her African grey parrot called Elvis have become infamous in Hull Fostering, being our longest ever serving foster carer.

Pat was given a standing ovation at our Hull Fostering Celebration Ceremony on Friday 19th May, where she accepted her 50th Year Long Service Award from Head of Service for Children, Young People, Michele Priest and Fostering Group Manager Jayne Betts.
