The fountains in Queen Victoria Square.

Update from Hull City Council: Queen Victoria Square fountains

Statement from Gillian Osgerby, interim assistant director for major projects and infrastructure at Hull City Council:

“Following the completion of on-going maintenance and repair works to the fountains, further faults were discovered with the internal mechanisms, which are a key part of their operation and can affect water quality.

“Additional repairs have now been undertaken, but further testing is required to ensure the fountains are safe.

“Despite our best efforts to reopen the fountains, we will not do so until the issues have been fully resolved, and the water quality is satisfactory.

“While we understand this is disappointing, public safety is our top priority.

“We apologise for the inconvenience and appreciate the community’s patience as we work diligently with our engineers to resolve this issue.”
