This week, National Highways announced three weeks of overnight closures on the A63 to allow the new Porter Street footbridge to be lifted into place.
Each weeknight from Monday 7 March to Friday 25 March, the A63 will be closed from 8pm to 6am between Daltry Street and Roger Millward Way.
The new footbridge is an integral part of the A63 Castle Street project.
Fran Oliver, project manager at National Highways, said: “The new Porter Street footbridge will allow pedestrians and cyclists to safely cross the dual carriageway and ease congestion on the A63.”
