A new conservation area character appraisal and management plan for Hessle Road Conservation Area was adopted this month following public consultation.
Following feedback, 270 Hessle Road (Henry Hird Jewellers) has also been added to the Hull Local Heritage List.
A re-survey of the Hessle Road Conservation Area was undertaken in 2024 as part of Hull City Council’s commitment to review all of its conservation areas.
This is with a view to providing up-to-date and relevant management guidance for aspects such as shopfront designs and advertising.
Residents, property owners and businesses of Hessle Road Conservation Area were asked for their opinions last autumn on proposals resulting from the re-survey.
Chris Jackson, director of regeneration at Hull City Council, said: “The new character appraisal and management plan for Hessle Road Conservation Area shows the council’s commitment to ensuring the city’s conservation areas are adequately maintained and to consulting local people on updates to our guidance.”
