Resurfacing works for Cumberland Street

A week-long carriageway resurfacing programme will take place on Cumberland Street next week.

Works will begin on Monday 3 February to improve a section of road which has deteriorated between Barmston Street and Swann Street junctions.

The programme is expected to take one week to complete and will be carried out by Hull City Council’s contractors Wright Civil Engineering Limited, who will provide a smoother and skid-resistant surface for motorists.

For safety reasons, the resurfacing will be carried out under a road closure with a full diversion route in place via Wincolmlee.

Affected residents and businesses have been informed via a letter drop, whilst information boards will be placed at both ends of the road informing motorists of the closure.

Cllr Mark Ieronimo, the council’s portfolio holder for transport and roads, said: “These works demonstrate the council’s commitment to maintaining safe road surfaces for all users.

“We appreciate there may be slight inconvenience for residents and businesses and for that we apologise.

“However, this is a short programme and I have no doubt that users of Cumberland Street will enjoy the benefits upon completion.”
