QPD Parade highlights programme success

Hull Training and Adult Education (HTAE) has witnessed the transformative impact of the Qualifications for Personal Development (QPD) programme on many young lives.

The recent QPD Parade, held at Wenlock Barracks, provided an opportunity to celebrate the achievements of learners and showcase the significant role HTAE has played in their personal and professional growth.

The event served as a reminder of how much progress can be made when young people are given the right support, qualifications and opportunities.

Attended by key figures from Hull City Council, including Councillor Linda Tock, portfolio holder for Hull Training, the QPD Parade offered students the chance to reflect on their journeys and share their successes.

Highlights included hearing how many learners had overcome significant challenges, with students proudly sharing how they had seen their Education, Health, and Care Plans (EHCPs) removed, marking a crucial milestone in their development.

Others credited QPD with inspiring them into pursuing new career paths, including nursing and the armed forces.

One learner said: “My friend told me about QPD and I am really enjoying it. It has helped with my fitness which I need as I would like to go into the army.”

Another added: “I am really enjoying my course, especially the overnight trip. It has improved my fitness, strength and confidence and pushed me towards my goals.”

A third stated: “The course has provided me with extensive knowledge of my subject whilst also made me a better person.”

Through its diverse range of courses, HTAE continues to help learners achieve their goals, whether in the military or other sectors, making a real difference in the lives of individuals across Hull.

At its QPD Forces Preparation College on Anlaby Road, the course focuses on three main areas to help learners succeed with careers goals – becoming qualified, military application support and fitness improvement.

Cllr Tock said: “The learners expressed deep gratitude for the continued support they have received and recognised the opportunities QPD has provided them, both personally and professionally.

“Their success is a reflection of the collaborative efforts that have made the QPD programme such a shining example of what can be achieved when we work together to provide opportunities for young people.

“HTAE has played a vital role in helping these students develop the skills and confidence they need to succeed in life and their careers and we are proud that the council continues supporting such initiatives that have a real impact on the community.”
