Hull City Council is set to begin essential resurfacing works on two streets in the east of the city, as part of its ongoing investment.
The works will take place simultaneously on Laburnum Avenue and Village Road and will involve resurfacing and reconstructing deteriorated sections of the footpaths.
Once completed, the new footpaths will provide a smoother, safer, and more accessible surface for all users.
Works are scheduled to begin on Monday 28 September and are expected to be completed by Friday 23 October, weather permitting.
To allow these works to be done safely, they will require footpath closures. However, signed diversions will be in place, and access will be maintained for residents.
Letters have been delivered to affected residents and businesses outlining the works, disruption expected and contact details should they require any further information.
Councillor Mark Ieronimo, cabinet portfolio holder for transport and infrastructure at Hull City Council said: “Good quality footpaths are something many of us take for granted until they begin to deteriorate. They play an important role in helping people get around safely every day, whether that’s walking to school, catching the bus, visiting neighbours or simply getting out and about.
“These improvements will help prevent more costly repairs in the future, as well as making a real difference to those who use the footpaths regularly.
“We appreciate everyone’s patience and understanding while the work is taking place.”
Laburnum Avenue has been funded by the council’s capital maintenance programme, while the works on Village Road have been funded by the Love Your Neighbourhood Project.
The works will be completed by Wright Civil Engineering on behalf of the council.
